Alfa Insurance, one of Alabama’s most established companies, has officially broken ground on its next chapter in Montgomery, a significant move that underscores its deep roots in our state and its confidence in the region’s future.
In collaboration with the Alabama Farmers Federation (AFF), Alfa is renovating a major landmark, the former Capitol Commerce Center building located off I-85 in Montgomery, between exits 11, Chantilly, and 15, Pike Road.

Officials say this relocation and renovation initiative brings high-wage jobs, reinforces corporate presence in the region, and signals a long-term investment in the Capital City’s growth. “Corporate headquarters matter. They bring high-wage jobs, civic leadership, and regional momentum,” said Anna Buckalew of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce.
Alfa has been headquartered in Montgomery since its earliest days. As the company approaches its 80th anniversary, the move serves both as a nod to tradition and a step into modernity. “We are proud of our Alabama roots. Alfa was created by farmers and has been headquartered in Montgomery since the beginning,” said Jimmy Parnell, President of Alfa and the Alabama Farmers Federation.
The project re-imagines a building that was designed some 20 years ago, bringing fresh workspaces, enhanced collaboration zones, and modern amenities. Architect firm Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) and construction leader Brasfield & Gorrie are working in partnership.
By committing to stay in Montgomery, Alfa and AFF are sending a strong signal to the business community and local workforce. County and city leadership, including the Montgomery County Commission and City Council, have been recognized for their cooperative efforts in making the transition possible.
From a regional development standpoint, this means more than a new building: it means sustained corporate presence, workforce investment, and community engagement.
As a real-estate team serving the Montgomery and Pike Road area, the news is encouraging. Major employers committing to the city help maintain a robust local economy and support property values.
For homeowners and buyers in the area, this kind of corporate-level investment helps cement confidence in the region’s long-term vitality.
While exact move-in dates or full renovation timelines haven’t been made public, construction is already underway. Alfa’s leadership indicates that the transition will occur in phases to ensure operations continue smoothly.
We’ll keep watching this project and share updates – especially as they may affect growth, workforce dynamics, and community development right here in Montgomery and Pike Road.
